Case study
A Unified Brand Identity for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
The Challenge
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award operates as a massive non-formal education framework across more than 130 countries, celebrating the diverse achievements of young people beyond the classroom.
The challenge was to consolidate a vast, fragmented global network under a single, cohesive brand identity. GSD® was tasked with developing a universal design language and digital portal that could be implemented accurately by National Award Operators, partners, and staff worldwide, regardless of local linguistic or cultural differences.
The Solution
Universal Brand Guidelines: Developed a comprehensive and intuitive brand toolkit, defining a clear visual communication style and brand positioning for global use.
Global Digital Portal: Engineered a user-friendly, centralised website to serve as the primary communication hub for the Award’s international community.
Multi-Platform Design: Crafted a versatile design-for-print strategy that maintains brand integrity across physical and digital touchpoints on a global scale.
Educational Framework: Structured the guidelines to educate internal stakeholders and partners on how to effectively deploy the brand identity to ensure a consistent message worldwide.

The Result
The collaboration has significantly strengthened the Award’s global reach, providing the Charity with the tools to inspire more young people than ever before.
By unifying the brand’s identity, GSD® helped ensure that the Award’s values are communicated with power and consistency in every territory. Following the success of this project, GSD® is now honored to be an official Partner of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, continuing to support their mission of youth empowerment on a global stage.
